The Breast Power Of Shar
“It can be difficult finding bras but I have my special stores I go to,” says Shar. “And I order them from England sometimes. The girls have big boobs over there too! Big, natural boobs. This one store I go to, they have this huge bra in the front window that’s like eight feet wide. I was in there one time and a guy said, ‘I want to meet the woman who can fit into that one!’ It was pretty funny. For me, I need a bra that’s going to hold me up. And those aren’t always as expensive, but they’re not too pretty. The pretty ones are only good for a few runs. I’ve broken them before.” Shar is very much a woman-next-door. “I guess I lived a sheltered life because I never realized that guys were checking me out. I just thought like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m getting boobs. I need to start wearing a bra!’ I remember my dad telling my mom that I had to get a bra. So she took me to the store and I could feel the heat coming off my body ’cause I was so embarrassed. Then she told the people who worked there that she needed a training bra for her daughter. She said it so loud! It was so embarrassing ’cause I saw someone from my class there, and I didn’t want them to hear my mom talking all loud about my training bra.” Yes, Shar has faced big-boob prejudice, like other girls, something we have fought against for years. “Someone’s always commenting about my breasts. I try to block out the negative things. I think it’s hilarious for someone to cut someone else down when they don’t know them as a person. And then there are people who struggle with these jobs that are never going to go anywhere. In this economy, if someone has a commodity that they can make money off of then that’s a good thing.”
